Genesee Community College ~ Mechatronics Industrial Electronics Program Student successfully completed "Mechatronics Phase 1: Industrial Electronics" through a partnership program with GCC's BEST Center and CNC Technical Solutions, Inc. in Medina, NY. Phase 1 is the first course in a 3-course program. Students who successfully complete Phase 1 have participated in 136 hours of classroom and laboratory instruction and obtained the following competencies: 1. Students will apply basic concepts of electrical theory to build complete AC and DC circuits. 2. Students will use electrical/electronic test equipment including digital voltmeter, oscilloscope, amp meter, hi-potential tester and insulation testers to evaluate and troubleshoot circuits. 3. Students will solder components to create operating circuits. 4. Students will be able to identify electrical symbols on a schematic diagram, pair the symbol with actual components and troubleshoot circuits through reading schematics.

Some 3,500 students graduated during RIT's 132nd commencement celebration, held in May.

SUNY New Paltz announces the Dean's List for the spring 2017 semester. Dean's List designation is reserved for students who excel academically and earn at least a 3.3 grade-point average in a semester with a full-time course load.

Degree-seeking undergraduate students are eligible for Dean's List if their term GPA is greater than or equal to 3.400; they do not have any grades of "Incomplete", "D" or "F"; and they have registered for, and completed, at least 12 credit hours.

Morrisville State College recently announced the students who were named to the Dean's List for the Spring 2017 semester. To be named to the Dean's List, a student must achieve an average of 3.0 to 3.99 for the semester and complete 12 credit hours.

More than 400 Buffalo State students presented their own research or creative work at the annual Student Research and Creativity Conference held on campus in April 2017. Students from many academic disciplines including art, business, education, science, and technology explained their work using posters or presentations. Students used gallery and performance space to demonstrate work in the performing and visual arts.

Students who have completed at least 12 credit hours and who have a GPA of 3.5 or higher qualify for the dean's list at Buffalo State. We are pleased to recognize the following students who attained this honor in the Spring 2017 semester.

221 students from Genesee Community College named to Provost's List. Students honored on the Provost's List have maintained part-time enrollment & earned a quality point index of 3.75 (roughly equivalent to an A) or better.

273 students from Genesee Community College named to Dean's List. Students honored on the Dean's List have maintained full or part-time enrollment and earned a quality point index of 3.50 to 3.74.

341 students from Genesee Community College named to President's List. Students honored on the President's List have maintained full-time enrollment and earned a quality point index of 3.75 (roughly equivalent to an A) or better.

The State University of New York at Potsdam recently named 855 students to the President's List, in recognition of their academic excellence in the Spring 2017 semester. The SUNY Potsdam students were honored for earning top marks by President Kristin G. Esterberg.

SUNY Canton has announced its Dean's List for the Spring 2017 semester.

The State University of New York at Geneseo has announced its Dean's List for the spring semester 2017. To be on the list, a student must have achieved at least a 3.5 grade point average while taking a minimum of 12 credit hours.

The State University of New York at Geneseo has announced its President's List for the spring semester 2017. To be on the list, a student must have achieved an A in all coursework (4.0 grade point average) while taking at least 12 credit hours.

Clarkson University awarded more than 700 bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees to students from 34 states, 26 countries and 60 New York state counties at its 124th commencement on May 13, 2017. (An additional 262 students received degrees this past winter and summer.)

Genesee Community College is pleased to congratulate 3 students whose essays earned first, second and third place, respectively, in the 2017 David A. Garfinkel Essay Contest sponsored by the Historical Society of New York Courts. Danielle Kinney, Anna Lewis and Shannon Dent were recognized at an awards ceremony in the New York Court of Appeals Courtroom on Law Day, May 1, 2017. The Garfinkel Essay contest invites community college students from around the state to submit essays on topics of legal relevance. This year they were charged with addressing the question: "YOU, the Voter: How far have we come? Is the journey over?" The Leadership Certificate Program seeks to prepare students for leadership roles and responsibilities on campus and in their future careers, communities and families. The mission of this program is embedded in a commitment to developing and enhancing a personal philosophy of leadership, a greater sense of self, an increased ability to relate to others, and deeper understanding of inherent responsibilities of active citizenship. This mission is accomplished through applied use knowledge, skills, and understanding of specific leadership theories, concepts, models, and modern leadership issues through a series of training workshops, service learning, volunteer work, and active engagement in the college community.

Buffalo State is proud to recognize the undergraduate students who have completed at least 45 credit hours (30 credit hours for transfer students) at Buffalo State and achieved at least a 3.5 cumulative GPA.

Genesee Community College took top billing at the 50th Annual Conference of the New York State Mathematics Association of Two-Year Colleges (NYSMATYC) in Syracuse, NY on April 7-9, 2017 with four GCC students taking honors and collectively earning $2,750 in scholarship awards-a GCC record for this particular conference. Each year, Phi Theta Kappa (PTK), the International Honor Society for two-year colleges sponsors the All-State Community College Academic Team with 38 states participating from across the nation. The scholastic program honors outstanding students through a competitive application process that includes a comprehensive essay revealing how each team member has immersed themselves in their community to have a positive impact. The Rochester Area Colleges Continuing Education Association (RACCE) announced that three students from Genesee Community College were recipients of the Outstanding Adult Student Award at its 33rd annual Awards Ceremony and Banquet held at the Hilton Doubletree Hotel in Rochester on April 12, 2017. The State University of New York (SUNY) Chancellor's Award for Student Excellence was created in 1997 to recognize students who have demonstrated the integration of academic excellence with other aspects of their lives, which may include leadership, campus involvement, athletics, career achievement, community service or creative and performing arts while maintaining a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.8. Each year, campus presidents establish a selection committee which reviews exemplary students. Nominees are then forwarded to the SUNY Chancellor's Office and are subject to a second round of review. Finalists are then recommended and finally approved by the Chancellor to become recipients of the prestigious award.
