The Leadership Certificate Program seeks to prepare students for leadership roles and responsibilities on campus and in their future careers, communities and families. The mission of this program is embedded in a commitment to developing and enhancing a personal philosophy of leadership, a greater sense of self, an increased ability to relate to others, and deeper understanding of inherent responsibilities of active citizenship. This mission is accomplished through applied use knowledge, skills, and understanding of specific leadership theories, concepts, models, and modern leadership issues through a series of training workshops, service learning, volunteer work, and active engagement in the college community.

GCC students appear in a dinner theatre production, "The Mystery of Edwin Drood", in the Stuart Steiner Theatre, November 12-15, 2015.

Orientation Leaders (OLs) are current students who work over the summer as GCC ambassadors assisting with summer orientation programs for first-time or transfer students, and their parents & family members. OLs continue to serve throughout the year as mentors and share their experience as successful students to aid in the transition process for incoming students.

The Chancellor's Award for Student Excellence honors State University of New York students who have best demonstrated and been recognized for their integration of academic excellence with other aspects of their lives, which may include leadership, campus involvement, athletics, career achievement, community service or creative and performing arts.

Dennis Bleier was awarded Best Haiku/Short Form at the 14th Annual Student Poetry Contest.

Matthew Cray was awarded Honorable Mention in the 14th Annual Student Poetry Contest.

Cheyenne Zaremba was awarded third place in the 14th Annual Student Poetry Contest.

Cierra Hand was awarded second place in the 14th Annual Student Poetry Contest.
