Human Resource Management Micro-Credential

The Human Resource Management Micro-Credential is comprised of three courses: Human Resource Management (BUS207), Organizational Behavior (BUS214) and Introduction to Creative Problem Solving (CPS101). Among the topics covered in these three courses are: Identify legal compliance governing the human resource function Explain current approaches to employee relations, diversity and inclusion, ethics and globalization Discuss HR strategy involved in the effective planning, recruitment, retention, performance management, job design, and the compensation and benefits functions of an organization Identify proven methods in building and managing effective teams Develop coaching and mentoring methods and best practices in implementation Practice facilitation, problem identification and analysis, and problem-solving skills Understand how to apply organizational behavior concepts such as creativity, innovation and change management Cultivate personal HR leadership skills

Accounting Fundamentals Micro-Credential

The Accounting Fundamentals Micro-Credential is comprised of four courses: Intro to Financial Accounting (ACC101), Intro to Managerial Accounting (ACC102), Computer Applications in Accounting (ACC201), and Intro to Income Tax (ACC217). Topics covered in these four courses include: Create Excel spreadsheets to perform financial analysis. Use QuickBooks to record financial transactions. se QuickBooks to prepare financial statements. Record business events using accounting principles. Prepare and analyze financial statements. Perform break-even and return on investment analyses. Prepare budgets and variance analysis. Analyze product costs and perform cost allocations. Communicate financial information in written documents. Prepare income tax returns using tax software.

Supply Chain Management Micro-Credential

The Supply Chain Management Micro-Credential is comprised of four courses: Transportation and Distribution Management (BLM212), Operations and Production Management (BLM223), Intro to Purchasing and Supply Chain Management (BLM234) and Intro to Inventory and Warehouse Management (BLM245). Topics covered in these four courses include: Understand the competitive advantage the purchasing function can provide an organization. Evaluate domestic versus international business practices (language barriers, cultural differences, laws, currency valuation, customs clearance, etc.). Explain the strategic versus tactical functionality of purchasing to influence the organization; product flow, future trends, inventory control, warehousing, etc. Calculate and evaluate inventory associated metrics (turnover, carrying costs, fill rates, stock out costs, etc. Use decision making tools such as "Reorder Point Quantity" AND "Economic Order Quantity" to increase inventory and warehouse efficiencies. Understand how to manage on-going warehouse operations issues (safety, ergonomics, staffing, security, etc.). Analyze tradeoffs associated with mode and carrier selection; carrier operations, costs, shipment size, weight, handling characteristics, service levels, rules, regulations etc. Manage the various attributes associated with providing timely, cost effective, and efficient transportation and distribution from the point of conversion to an intermediate party or end user. Learn strategic concepts, and qualitative and quantitative tools used in managing the areas of production and operations; site location, forecasting, capacity planning, cycle time, quality, etc. Develop critical thinking to understand the interactions between Operations and Production management to achieve core objectives; productivity, competitiveness, profitability, etc.

Event Planning Micro-Credential

The Event Planning Micro-Credential is comprised of three courses and explores the following opportunities either in a classroom setting, through online or HyFlex learning: Understand factors that contribute to event feasibility, revenue maximization and continue sustainability. Learn how to leverage events as a marketing tool for business. Learn the legal compliance requirement and risks related to event management. Develop a comprehensive event budget and crowd management plan. Effectively planning and executing a broad variety of events while incorporating exceptional customer service. Identifying and anticipating trends in meeting and event planning. Developing effective strategies in negotiating meeting contracts. Use technology to develop and build customer relationships. Understand global business etiquette practices.

Medical Billing & Coding Micro-Credential

The Medical Billing & Coding Micro-Credential is comprised of four courses: Medical Terminology (OFT116), Introduction to Health Insurance (OFT150), Medical Billing & Coding I and II (OFT 155 and OFT 255) taken part-time, online over 2 semesters. Topics covered in these four courses include: Medical terminology utilized in various health care situations Students will understand the legal and ethical side of health insurance, types of health insurance, HIPPA guidelines, the health insurance claims process and reimbursement. Procedure terminology and Common Procedure Coding Systems (HCPCS) Diagnostic coding with an emphasis on the International Classification of Diseases (ICD-10) classification system. Submitting insurance claims, as well as trouble-shooting rejected claims

NYS Coaching Certification Micro-Credential

GCC's NYS Coaching Certification program bundles four courses, two in health and two in physical education, into a unique micro-credential which is delivered in just 12 credit hours. The program is designed to: Satisfy the Commissioner of Education's requirements for coaching in NYS, and Deliver the necessary DASA (Dignity for All) training, SAVE and Child Abuse Mandated Reporter Certifications required by law in New York State to work with children. The four courses are: Responding to Emergencies (HED205) - presents emergency techniques to alleviate suffering and sustain human life including safety and prevention studies relating to home, school, industry and highway. Completion of this course prepares you for the Red Cross Responding to Emergencies CPR/AED certification. Health Sciences for Coaching (HED209) - through interactive exercises, students learn about NYS interscholastic sports including the selected principles of biology, anatomy, physiology and kinesiology related to coaching, risk management, competition, and legal implications in athletics including concussion management training. Principles of Coaching (PED271) - covers high school and college-level coaching philosophy, discipline, teaching methodology, practice planning, ethics and legalities and includes the NYS mandated Child Abuse Prevention Workshop and SAVE Legislation training. Theory and Techniques of Coaching (PED272) - presents the history of NYS interscholastic athletics including objectives, rules, regulations, policies, and management practices. Safety precautions and officiating methods are also covered, and an active coaching internship experience is required.

Phlebotomy Micro-Credential

The Phlebotomy Micro-credential requires only one course, PHB 101 and can be taken in either the spring or fall semester. This course is designed to provide knowledge in all aspects of both adult and pediatric phlebotomy required to become a Phlebotomy technician. Training in infection control, legal issues, proper equipment use, standard protocols for specimen collection and reporting skills are all included in our course. Other skills include: Identifying venous and capillary anatomy used for specimen collection Identify cardiovascular anatomy and pathophysiology of the system Identifying laboratory quality and safety guidelines standard to the field Demonstrate collection methods of blood samples including capillary and venipuncture. Demonstrating proper collection protocols for non-blood specimens In addition, students will learn how to prepare their patients for blood draws who may be anxious or have a fear of needles.

Personal Training Micro-Credential

The Personal Training Micro-credential is comprised of one course, PED 273, which provides hands-on training in pre-exercise assessment, flexibility assessment, resistance training techniques, and cardiovascular training techniques. The Micro-credential introduces the design of an individualized workout plan for varying populations. Additional skills include: Identify aspects of functional anatomy of the human body as they relate to personal training. Identifying physiological energy systems. Identify the impact nutrition has on training. Measure physiological data such as: body composition, body mass index or bioelectrical impedance. Evaluate pre-exercise screening tools to assess a client's readiness for exercise participation. Design training programs for clients based on a client's current fitness level and training goals. Identify strategies for losing or gaining weight
