Online Winterim Courses Prevent "Learning Freeze" During Winter Break!
Students Can Earn 3 Credits in Just Over 4 Weeks!
Batavia, NY (10/15/2018) — Genesee Community College has opened registration for 12 ONLINE Winterim classes available between the Fall 2018 and Spring 2019 semesters. These courses allow students to accelerate their degree earning progress while ensuring snow and ice doesn't freeze up their learning process! Winterim is not only perfect for students enrolled at GCC, but for students enrolled in other colleges and universities as well.
Students enrolled at other institutions take Winterim courses and transfer these credits back to their "home" school! In fact, this past year GCC sent official college course transcripts to more than 550 colleges and universities from as far away as Seattle University to Sacramento State, Harvard Extension to Hartwick, Davis to Duke!
"Clearly, students today are educated consumers - as they should be!" said Dr. Craig Lamb, dean of Distributed Learning who oversees GCC's online program. "They have learned that a history, English or business course offered by GCC provides the same quality education with a much more affordable credit hour rate. Students concerned about college debt keep their eyes open for cost savings that offer comparable experiences. GCC Winterim offers those benefits, while allowing students to lighten their academic load in the spring semester or earn college credits more quickly. It's a win - win."
Students looking to retain their New York State Excelsior Scholarship find Winterim courses maintain their credit hour requirements and eligibility, from the comfort of their home! Without venturing outside, students can earn college credits while enjoying their semester break.
GCC's Winterim session runs from December 10, 2018 through January 9, 2019, with courses that benefit all academic concentrations. General education requirements, such as College Composition (ENG101), Microeconomics (ECO101) or World Civilizations (HIS101) are available. In addition, Introduction to Meteorology (MET101), Business Communications (BUS106) or Hip Hop Culture (MUS107) could help round out a student's academic electives.
