Background:

Genesee Community College has officially announced the first event in this year's Historical Horizons series! On Monday, October 18, 2021 at 7 p.m. at GCC Associate Professor of History, Derek D. Maxfield will present on his book "Hellmira: The Union's Most Infamous Civil War Prison Camp- Elmira NY" which explores this notorious time period in the history of Elmira, NY.

Joining Maxfield will be Prof. Michael Gosselin, who wrote an appendice to the book about Mark Twain in Elmira. Copies of the book will be available for sale from Barnes & Noble and Maxfield will be available to sign after the book talk.

This event is FREE and open to the entire community. It is subject to all masking and social distancing requirements and guidelines.
