Genesee Community College Announces Theme for 45th Annual Fashion Show: "ANTI-TERRESTRIAL"

Batavia, NY (12/03/2025) — Genesee Community College proudly announces the theme for its 45th Annual Fashion Show: ANTI-TERRESTRIAL. The event will take place on Saturday, May 2, 2026, in the Richard C. Call Arena on GCC's Batavia Campus.

This year's theme, ANTI-TERRESTRIAL, explores the intersection of design, society, and morality. It challenges participants to consider how human beings shape the worlds they inhabit through shared values, norms, and aesthetics and, in turn, how those worlds shape them. Designers will create collections inspired by the idea of building new societies, using universal elements to define the characteristics, values, and visual identity of these imagined civilizations.

"ANTI-TERRESTRIAL is both a creative and philosophical investigation," said Associate Professor of Fashion Business Laura Taylor. "It asks how design can move beyond aesthetics to become a reflection of humanity's moral compass and pursuit of progress. The goal is to inspire viewers to think critically about the societies we live in and those we might one day create."

The event's atmosphere will reflect this concept through a space-inspired environment, transforming the Richard C. Call Arena into a scene of cosmic introspection and exploration. Through the interplay of light, shadow, and celestial design, the show will invite audiences to look beyond earthly boundaries and imagine new frontiers of creativity, ethics, and existence.

Now in its 45th year, GCC's Annual Fashion Show continues to serve as a showcase for student innovation and professionalism. Each collection represents months of planning, research, and design development, culminating in one of Western New York's most anticipated student-led events.
