Background: The Fashion Business Speaker Series at Genesee Community College continues on Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at 1 p.m. with a special presentation by Buffalo native Erin Habes. For years, Habes has drawn on the City of Buffalo for her creative fuel. Join GCC's Fashion Program students to hear about her surprising and rich career path.

The presentation takes place in T102 of the Conable Technology Building on GCC's Batavia Campus. The event is free and open to the public; however seating is limited. Those wishing to attend can RSVP by calling (585) 345-6830 in advance. If you are unable to attend the event, Habes' presentation will also be streamed live at www.genesee.edu/home/event-streaming/.

"Habes was selected to participate in the Fashion Business Speaker Series in part because her career path touches down in all the concentrations GCC offers while exemplifying the enormous potential for careers in the fashion industry," said Donna Ehrhart, GCC professor of Fashion, Business and Computer Information Systems.

Habes is a lecturer in the SUNY Buffalo State College Fashion and Textile Technology Department, the producer and co-creator of the successful Buffalo State College "Runway" fashion show series, a style editor for Buffalo Spree magazine and a fashion consultant for Visit Buffalo Niagara. She earned her B.S. in Fashion Merchandising in 2003 from SUNY Buffalo State College where she is currently pursuing an M.S. at the International Center for Studies in Creativity. Habes also studied Fashion Textiles & Art History in Siena, Italy in 2001.
