Cougar Weekend at GCC Kicks Off with the Cougar Crawl
Come One, Come All to Batavia for September 21-22, 2018
Batavia, NY (08/15/2018) — Genesee Community College has announced the 2018 Cougar Weekend will take place Friday and Saturday, September 21 - 22, 2018. Alumni, students, friends of the College, supporters and members of the community are invited to enjoy the celebration. The two-day schedule for Cougar Weekend is as follows.
Friday, September 21, 2018 - Cougar Crawl in Downtown Batavia begins at 5 p.m.
GCC's Alumni Office invites the entire community to join the Cougar Crawl and explore downtown Batavia making stops at local establishments for food, drink and discount specials. The highlighted stops largely feature businesses owned by or who employ GCC alumni.
The crawl will begin at Ken's Charcoal Pits at 5 p.m. and features stops at The YNGodess Shop (73 East Main Street), Valle Jewelers (21 Jackson Street), Pollyanna and Dot (202 East Main Street), Eli Fish Brewing Company (109 Main Street) and T-Shirts Etc. (37 Center Street).
The crawl ends at T.F. Brown's Restaurant (214 Main Street) for the Cougar Crawl Bash which provides a live DJ till 10 p.m., a buffet and prizes are included! Saturday, September 22, 2018 - Cougar Weekend Events at GCC's Batavia Campus
To round out Cougar Weekend, GCC's Batavia campus will host a full day of activities, exhibits and more! The fun begins at 10 a.m. when the Craft and Vendor Market opens inside the (air conditioned) the new Richard C. Call Arena! To register as a vendor, contact Nina Mortellaro at nimortellaro@genesee.edu.
Registration for the the 9th Annual Bike and Car Cruise, sponsored by Ken Barrett Chevrolet-Cadillac, will be open at 9 a.m. and the show will begin at noon in the parking lot of the Call Arena. DJ Hank Nevins will host the cruise. For more cruise information, please call (716) 474-4454.
A chicken barbeque will be available for only $10 which includes chicken and sides. The barbeque will be available starting at noon until supplies run out. In addition, two exhibits will be opening for viewing in the Genesee Center for the Arts. Dion Hitchings, "Portraits in Trash" can be viewed in the Roz Steiner Art Gallery from 12 noon through 3 p.m., and "Landscape Interaction/Intervention" photography exhibit will be on display in the Stuart Steiner Theatre Lobby.
At the Richard C. Call Arena, the Athletic Hall of Fame will welcome five new inductees at 5 p.m., and back by popular demand, the Alumni Co-Ed Soccer Game starts at 7 p.m. on the campus Turf Field. Lastly, the Alumni Bonfire will take place at College Village at 8 p.m. Bring a friend and join GCC for s'mores as the Cougar Weekend comes to an end!
