GCC Presents: Helene Biandudi Hofer

Award-Winning Journalist and Filmmaker to Speak at Fashion Business Program Speaker Series

Batavia, NY (10/11/2017) — Hélène Biandudi Hofer, acclaimed journalist, documentary filmmaker and the host and producer of WXXI-TV's popular newsmagazine show, Need to Know, will be at Genesee Community College on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 from 1:00pm - 2:30pm to tell her powerful story.

Hélène kick-started her own career at just eight years old using a make-shift production studio in her childhood home to produce news stories and fashion shows. From there, Hélène grew her passion into an award-winning career.

How did she do it? "Have fun doing what you love, trust your instincts and be quick to forgive yourself," says Hélène.

Hélène's media group, HBH Enterprises, LLC, is currently developing The Empty Hanger, an original human interest series revealing the untold and often overlooked stories of the people who design, manufacture, tailor, study, wear, talk about and claim to be forever changed by clothing. The goal of the series is to challenge and expand how consumers view fashion choices and everyday dress by examining the varying degrees of impact and influence clothing has on our culture.

"I've always believed that clothing impacts our lives, and after my extensive research and interviews for this documentary series, I have no doubt that it does" says Hélène.

Her desire to shed light on issues affecting under-served populations and to connect cultures and communities through the power of story has led her on an incredible journey. Her coverage repertoire includes the first inauguration of Barack Obama, the death of music icon Michael Jackson, the CBS/Vogue Fashion's Night Out program and much more. In addition, she worked for the CBS Primetime show, 48 Hours, contributing to several documentary specials for the network.

Don't miss the chance to hear Hélène Biandudi Hofer on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at GCC's Batavia Campus in room T102 of the Conable Technology Building. This event is free and open to the public. Seating is limited. If you are unable to attend, visit http://www.genesee.edu/home/event-streaming/ to watch it live.
