Michelle Nagle Awarded Student of the Month

2014 May 27

Michelle Nagle is the Student of the Month for May 2014. A native of Randolph, NY, Michelle is a 2012 graduate of Randolph High School. She chose GCC initially for the Fashion Merchandising and sales program, but changed her major to Tourism and Hospitality and became a vital part of that program.

Michelle, 19, was also a key player on the GCC women's volleyball team. She was the Western New York Athletic Conference Player of the Year in 2013 when she helped the Cougars capture their 18th consecutive Region III Division II title. She's been recognized on multiple occasions for her outstanding level of play, including as most valuable player.

Her commitment to academics was equally impressive. She received the SUNY Chancellor's Award for Student Excellence, which recognizes students who best demonstrate the integration of academic excellence and extracurricular achievements. Instructors in the Tourism and Hospitality program describe her as "always one of the first to volunteer to assist in any way and she was a role model for her peers." Of the College Michelle said, "I enjoy the small class sizes and the teachers are friendly and caring." She spent her final semester completing an internship at Disney World in Florida.

Michelle plans to continue her education at Niagara University and dreams of one day becoming an event planner. She is the daughter of Tim and Loni Nagle and has two siblings, Travis and Jessica.
