Genesee's Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society Inducts 49 New Members

Jennifer Puccio, a resident of Batavia, was among 49 students from Genesee Community College who were inducted into the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society on December 5, 2008.

Established in 1918, Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) Honor Society serves to recognize and encourage the academic achievement of two-year college students and provide opportunities for individual growth and development through honors, leadership, and service programming. To be eligible for membership, a student must complete a minimum of 12 hours of Associate degree course work and earn a grade point average of 3.6 or higher. Students must maintain a high academic standing, or a 3.3 GPA, throughout their enrollment in the two-year college.

Genesee Community College offers 60 academic programs and certificates, including new Biotechnology and Environmental Studies. Genesee is accessible through seven campus locations throughout Western, NY as well as through online classes in the Distance Learning program. College housing is available at College Village, just a three minute walk from the Batavia Campus. With small class sizes yet state-of-the-art technology both inside and out of the classroom, Genesee Community College is known for being 'high-tech' and 'high-touch'.
