Native American Warren Skye Presents in Medina

"Indigenous Peoples: Echoes of History and Culture"

Batavia, NY (11/21/2018) — Medina, NY- Genesee Community College Medina Campus Center will welcome Warren Skye, an outreach specialist for the Adult Educational Opportunity Center (AEOC) on Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at 7 p.m. at the GCC's Medina Campus Center located at 11470 Maple Ridge Road, Medina, NY 14103. This event is free and open to the public.

Skye, a member of the Deer Clan from the Tonawanda Seneca Nation, will present "Indigenous Peoples: Echoes of History and Culture." He has extensive experience in higher education as a faculty member for three Western New York colleges. With his passion and expertise in the areas of social work practice, cultural competency and indigenous issues, Skye is continuously shining light on the experiences of indigenous peoples in the region.

His talk will focus on the historical and cultural experiences of indigenous peoples from the Colonial period to the present with an emphasis on the Iroquois Confederacy and how listeners might consider placing themselves in the footsteps of native tribal men and women.
