Kids off to School - Parents off to College!

Late Session at GCC Begins Monday, Sept. 16 - Still Time to Register

Batavia, NY (09/09/2019) — Genesee Community College knows that sometimes the traditional, 14-week fall semester begins before everyone is ready! When the kids are still at home and it's still bright and sunny at 7 p.m., college curriculum is hard to focus on. That's why GCC offers a late-start, 12-week session of courses that begins Monday, September 16, 2019. Courses offered during this session are available at the Batavia Campus, Medina Campus Center and online. For the complete course list, visit www.genesee.edu/courses/schedule.

There are more than 45 courses offered in the 12-week session covering a variety of dynamic subjects, including: Business Law, Ceramics, Lifeguarding, Painting, Short Stories, Sociology, and Film Comedy, to name a few. In addition, GCC is offering numerous introductory or survey courses such as Introduction to Digital Photography (PHO118), Introduction to Meteorology (MET1010), Music Appreciation (MUS101), Medical Terminology (OFT116) and Human Nutrition (BIO108), which pairs well with Introduction to Food Processing Technology (FPT101).

Those considering a degree in Business or becoming their own boss should start with the Principles of Business (BUS101) to examine the different types of business ownership, management principles, internal organization, human resource management, marketing and finance and risk management. This course is a foundation for all other business courses and endeavors.

Classes in the 12-week session are easily accessible offered in the mornings, afternoons and evenings, and online. Additionally, GCC also offers the final segment of more than 35 late-start eight-week courses beginning on Monday, October 15, 2019. For all the class options at GCC visit www.genesee.edu/courses/schedule.

"Late start sessions are another example of GCC's mission of making college readily accessible to as many students as possible," said Dr. Shelitha Williams, GCC's vice president for Student and Enrollment Services. "We understand that adult students have many priorities. Getting younger children off to their school year allows parents to take advantage of a shorter college term that starts in mid-September or even mid-October, and be able to focus and succeed in their own studies."

To apply online for classes at any Genesee Community College campus location, new students should go to http://www.genesee.edu/Admissions or call the Admissions office at 585-345-6800.
